'Slices of Time Past': Choral Music from 18th-Century America

On Thursday, April 5th at 7:30pm at the Colonial Society of Massachusetts’s house at 87 Mount Vernon Street, Boston, the chorus American Harmony, directed by Nym Cooke, will sing psalm tunes, fuging tunes, and anthems from American Harmony: Inspired Choral Miniatures from New England, Appalachia, the Mid-Atlantic, the South, and the Midwest.  Nym will provide commentary, refreshments will be served, and copies of American Harmony will be available for purchase and autographing.

Forty Days of Musa Dagh

Reading

On the occasion of the landmark historical novel’s 85th anniversary, you are invited to join the Zohrab Center’s The Forty Days of Musa Dagh Book Club on Thursday, April 12 at 7 pm in the Guild Hall of the Armenian Diocese in New York.

Aida Zilelian, Elaine Merguerian, Haig Chahinian, Harry Koumrouyan, and Nancy Agabian will recite brief excerpts from the book and explain how the text resonated with them.

Others wishing to share their own responses to the book will be invited to step up to the open mic. Each participant will be limited to three minutes.
