Julian Hoffman has lived beside the Prespa lakes in the mountains of northern Greece for the past quarter of a century. His previous book, Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save Our Wild Places, was a Highly Commended Finalist for the Wainwright Prize for Writing on Global Conservation 2020 and a Royal Geographical Society ‘Book of the Year’. His debut, The Small Heart of Things, was chosen by Terry Tempest Williams as the winner of the 2012 AWP Award for Creative Nonfiction. It also won a National Outdoor Book Award for Natural History Literature and was a finalist for both the Foreword Book of the Year in Ecology and Environment and the ASLE Book Award for Literature and Environment.
